Before we came to Hawthorn, I was constantly anxious and stressed about ensuring I supported and encouraged Molly’s development on a daily basis.
At Hawthorn, not only is Molly able to thrive with experienced staff who pre-empt issues and challenges and suggest solutions around development, but I have somewhere to go to ask questions (and I have asked thousands). Navigating the world of Down syndrome has been challenging and unexpected, but Hawthorn has allowed me to relax and be just Molly’s mum.
It has been incredible having the support and advice from staff, who understand the journey that we are on. This has meant that we can focus on Molly as an individual and not just on what might be typical, given her condition.
Molly has made leaps and bounds in her development, through suggestions from the staff at Hawthorn, other parents I have met here and the facilities and positive environment at the nursery.
Leeds Mencap is invaluable to us.
