Sleep Tight Workshops

Recently, we said goodbye to our first cohort of parents and carers as they completed their Sleep Tight workshops.

The workshops support parents and carers of children and young people aged 1 to 18 years with a learning disability, autism and other complex needs. Together, with our Family Engagement and Support workers, families look at understanding common sleep challenges, positive bedtime routines and strategies to support children’s needs.

The workshops aim to empower parents and carers giving them practical strategies and the confidence to improve their child’s sleep by giving them the information to use in their own homes. Parents and carers said they found learning about sleepy foods and bedtime boxes to replace screen time the most useful.

Our sessions offer more than just practical support and are a place to come together and share their experiences with other families and know they are not on their own. Parents and carers shared their knowledge on other aspects of living with a disabled child, such as bringing in sensory toys, ideas and suggestions of fun things to do as a family.

Families felt optimistic about their child’s sleep after their workshops had finished. We are so pleased our parents and carers have benefited so much from coming together, and we look forward to seeing them again on Wednesday 10th June for our first Parent and Carer Coffee Corner!
