Our Sibling’s Group- Super Sibs
Term-time group for children and young people aged 8 to 16 who have a brother or sister with a learning disability, autism or other complex needs.
Life as the brother or sister of someone with a learning disability, autism or other complex needs can be challenging. It’s sometimes difficult to get time to yourself and for your friends, to go to clubs and activities or go on outings. 'Super Sibs' gives children and young people the opportunity to spend time with others who know what it’s like in a welcoming, supportive environment. There’s time to relax, try new things, talk about how you are feeling if you want to but mostly to let off steam and have fun.
The young people decide what they would like to do each week during a planning session at the start of each term.
Previous activities have included, baking, Harry Potter theme nights, slime making, games nights and talent shows.
The Group
'Super Sibs' runs at The Vinery Centre from 6pm to 8pm.
The group runs every Wednesday during the school term – dates will be provided half-termly in advance, and visual timetables of planned activities will be provided.
