Why support us?
By leaving a gift in your will you can help families, young people and children with learning disabilities, to live their lives to the full.
Making a will is the best and simplest way to safeguard everyone’s future. After providing for your loved ones you may choose to support those causes closest to your heart, such as Leeds Mencap.
Our step by step guide takes you through some of the important points you’ll need to think about when writing your will, such as choosing a solicitor or the different type of gifts your can leave.
Leaving a gift in your will is simple but if you decide to leave a gift you will need to refer to ‘Leeds Mencap’ which is a separate organisation to the Royal Mencap Society.
Why others choose us
I don’t know what we would have done without Leeds Mencap in those early days. It made such a difference to us, knowing that there was somewhere to go and that we weren’t alone. We made a legacy pledge as we wanted to give something so that families in the future can continue to get the support that we did.
Who you will be supporting
Jim and Emily
Emily was born with a rare brain disorder which affects her eyesight and coordination. She also has a learning disability and this meant that growing up she needed extra support at school and home. She found it difficult to access social activities because of a lack of support for individuals with additional needs.Find out more
