Why Support Us?
If you’ve thinking of doing an event for charity, we’d love to be considered as your chosen charity! There are loads of ways that you can get involved with events ranging from challenge events like runs, skydives and Tough Mudders to corporate challenges that will bring your team together or virtual events that you can do at a time that suits you. We’re also here to support you to plan your own event ideas whether it be a tea party, a bake sale, quiz night or a sponsored Zumba event.
We’ll provide advice, support and materials to make sure that your event goes well and promote your event on our social media channels. We’re here to help you at every stage.
What’s more, at Leeds Mencap your support will go a long way. As an independent charity, we have to secure our own funding each year to keep providing our services, so if you can do an event for us, we very much appreciate it! Please get in touch to discuss your exciting fundraising event ideas today.
How you can help
Why others support us
Everyone has their own personal story of why they take on a running challenge for a charity. Chris Murray took on the Leeds 10k last summer and raised over £200. Chris said, “I took on the challenge to raise money for a brilliant charity and push myself to do something I never though I would!”
Who you will be supporting
Jim and Emily
Emily was born with a rare brain disorder which affects her eyesight and coordination. She also has a learning disability and this meant that growing up she needed extra support at school and home. She found it difficult to access social activities because of a lack of support for individuals with additional needs.Find out more
Grace and Molly
Before we came to Leeds Mencap, I was constantly anxious and stressed about ensuring I supported and encouraged Molly’s development on a daily basis.Find out more

On average we have over 2,500 attendees to our centre every year. In a year we help over 200 families and in addition over 400 children to have full and active lives. We want to do even more.
Our reports have shown on average each year we have reduced isolation for over 370 individuals, improved employability for over 100 adults with learning disabilities and improved health and wellbeing for over 200 individuals.
We have been doing this for 60 years for the communities of Leeds and we need people like you to help us to continue to do this.
