Find out about how you can get involved as a Volunteer
Volunteers are essential to Leeds Mencap so thank you in advance for thinking of spending your time with us.
Role descriptions for our volunteering opportunities can be found below, but if none of these are suitable for you, why not do some fundraising for us instead?
- Volunteer within our Short Breaks projects (Youth Clubs, Playschemes, and Siblings Groups) and work directly with service users in a range of activities: from structured arts workshops and free play sessions, to organised group trips to museums and parks in the local and surrounding areas. To get a sense of what a day in the life of a playscheme volunteer might be like take a look at this 2015 blog post written by two of our volunteers.
- Volunteer within our Fundraising Department to help deliver a range of brilliant fundraising events, such as the corporate Apprentice Challenge, Leeds 10k, a Sahara Desert Trek, or the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. Your support may be needed for contacting existing or potential donors, marketing and promotion, research and event logistics.
- Volunteer at a fundraising event and help with planning, set up, selling drinks or tickets or making our supporters feel special. We also like it when people cheer on our participants at sporting events and help with money-collecting or bag-packing at shops or supermarkets.
To apply, you'll need to fill out an Application Form and Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form below. However, please do contact us before applying to check whether the volunteering opportunity you are interested in is currently available.
