Parent/Carer Support Groups
We offer a number of support groups for parents and carers at our East End Park site and in various parts of the city.
Would you like the opportunity to chat with other parents and carers in a similar position over a coffee in an informal, friendly setting? If so, we would love to see you at our Parents and Carers Support Groups!
The Groups have been started by parents and carers, for parents and carers and will be driven by your needs. Please see the bottom of the page to download our Parent/Carers leaflet.

Parent, Carole from our Links Group writes:
"As a parent of a teenager with a learning disability I know only too well how daunting life can be for carers. For this reason I decided to start a ‘support’ group for parents/carers based at Leeds Mencap, East End Park Londesboro Terrace, Leeds, LS9 9NE.
We meet every Wednesday during term time, from 10.30am until 1.30pm.
It’s very informal, it’s ‘our time’ to relax, chat and discuss different issues.
We have guest speakers, who give information about a range of different subjects, for example respite, transport, puberty and behavioural issues.
We have recently being involved in cookery sessions, which were great fun!
The group is not a moaning group. We believe we need to be as positive as we can be about our children, but as carers we also need some tender loving care!!!
We look forward to seeing you at our group".
