Hawthorn Family Support Centre

Hawthorn Family Support Centre is run by Leeds Mencap to provide support and information to parents and carers of children aged from birth to 3 years with a learning disability.

At the centre parents and carers can attend support groups with the simple aim of extending friendship at a time when many parents are experiencing a great deal of stress, whilst their child is cared for in the playroom by qualified and experienced staff.

Leeds Mencap also offers Portage home visits, an educational service for pre-school children with additional support needs and their families.

Moving on...

Early years settings in Leeds are inclusive and aim to provide for the needs of all children, including those with special needs.

There are a variety of settings available for pre-school children in the Leeds area including nurseries, Early Years Centres and Specialist Inclusive Learning Centres.

Hawthorn Family Support Centre offers families help with choosing a setting to meet their child’s individual needs and works with parents and carers and other early years services to co-ordinate provision and plan how best to move their child on to pre-school provision around their third birthday.
