the Leeds Mencap Team and run, wheel or skip around Leeds City Centre in aid of Leeds Mencap. This
is one of Yorkshire's biggest
running events and is a fantastic experience for both experienced and beginner
runners.
This event is taking place on Sunday 8th July 2012 setting off from Leeds Town Hall. Leeds Mencap has secured 25 guaranteed places in this year’s race. If you would like one of these places all you need to do is pledge to raise a minimum of £100 sponsorship for us.Your support will help ensure we can continue supporting over 250 families with a learning disability in the Leeds region per week. Leeds Mencap is looking for anyone that needs an extra boost of encouragement to fulfil their New Year’s resolution in 2012. Have you decided that 2012 is the year you are going to: Quit smoking? Be healthier? Become more active? Lose weight, or do something that makes you feel great? How are you doing? If you feel like you need an extra motivation to keep you on track for fulfilling your goal then please keep reading….. Why not kick start your New Year’s resolution by asking friends and family to sponsor you to keep going? For example you could ask them to: • Donate the amount of money you would spend on cigarettes each week to Leeds Mencap • Donate £1 to Leeds Mencap for each lbs you lose • Sponsor you to do a sponsored walk, run or bike ride? The knowledge that you will be raising money to support children and adults with a learning disability in Leeds if you stick to your New Year’s promise will give you that extra boost of inspiration you need to keep going! In return for all your hard work Leeds Mencap will supply a Leeds Mencap t-shirt, a fundraising pack and lots of support and encouragement. Carols by Candlelight
Join us to celebrate the festive season and support the work of Mencap in Leeds.

All guests are invited to join us after for mulled wine and mince pies. Carols by Candlelight tickets are £5 per person or £15 for a family of 4. Tickets will be available on the door but to avoid disappointment please reserve your tickets by contacting mary.threadgould@mencap.org.uk or by calling 0113 2351331. All proceeds raised from the concert will be divided equally between Leeds Mencap and Royal Mencap Society. The chapel will look beautiful glistening with candles so wrap up in your winter scarves and hats and join in the Christmas spirit with your friends and family!
Ronnie's Christmas Firewalk Join our spectacular Firewalk from 6.30pm on Monday 19th December at Headingley Stadium. We are looking for brave ‘soles’ to walk barefoot over a fire bed of red-hot glowing embers, burning up to 1236 degrees Fahrenheit – all to raise money for Leeds Mencap and Leeds Rugby Foundation!
Do you fancy a challenge of a lifetime? Fire walking is a powerful tool designed to help transform fear and to inspire people to do things they initially didn’t think possible! This is your opportunity to achieve the impossible, increase your confidence, overcome your fears and raise vital funds for us at the same time. Those who take part will get a two hour training and motivational session before the big Firewalk and will be presented with their certificate by a Rhinos first team player.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to the Leeds Mencap Annual Ball on Saturday 15th October.
A fabulous night was had by all and this was complemented by the fabulous Meshdance & Me2 and the Leeds University Union Dance Band.
The event raised over £10,000 with funds still coming in and we are thoroughly in awe of the wonderful Ball committee who continue to dazzle us with their commitment, enthusiasm and fund raising abilities!
